Rev. Kathleen Ellis

Called to Join Live Oak Ministry

On Sunday, May 23, 2004 at a Special Congregational meeting, the members of Live Oak voted to call the Rev. Kathleen Ellis as a minister to our congregation. Kathleen will join Chuck Freeman in creating a team ministry for Live Oak. We are extremely fortunate to have another highly skilled, experienced, and well-thought-of minister on our staff!

Kathleen, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and from Perkins Theological Seminary in Dallas. A Unitarian Universalist long before she entered the ministry in 1993, Kathleen has been active in denominational and church affairs since 1975. Kathleen has two grown sons, Rob and Fred Nugen, and two step daughters, Karina and Alicia Montgomery.

Kathleen has served churches in Arlington, Houston, Waco, and College Station, Texas. She is active in the denomination and currently is President of the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association for the Southwest District, Ministerial Settlement Representative for the Southwest District and is on the Executive Committee of the Continental Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association.  She is also mentor to several newly fellowshipped ministers in Oklahoma and Texas.

Kathleen has been a friend of Live Oak for several years and joined our membership in June of 2003. We know that Kathleen will make an excellent addition to the staff of Live Oak!
