Typical Order of Service

This is the order of service for a typical Sunday service. Prelude and Contemplation begin at 5 minutes before the service. Specific hymns and reading will differ according to the season and sermon. Friendly greeters will give you an order of service and orient you when you arrive!

Welcome to Live Oak UU Church. We are so glad you are here.

Our minister Reverend Joanna Crawford is on sabbatical through the summer. Our sabbatical minister Reverend Jami Yandle preaches the 3rd-5th Sunday of each month.

Order of Service

Service will begin at 10 am. You may light a candle on either side of the stage (the ones on the right side are electric) before service.

Prelude

Community Greeting and Chalice Lighting

All over the world, UU churches begin service by lighting a chalice, which is the primary symbol of our faith tradition. We light the chalice as a symbol of hope, the sacred, the quest for truth, the warmth of community, the light of reason, and  to create a reverent space for reflection, prayer, meditation, and singing.

Big Idea: our Tale for All Ages

Good stories are central to good worship as they engage our hearts and minds and help us grow. Offering and Offertory Music:

Chalice Extinguishing
