Curious about the banner hanging on our building?

The consensus of the November 2006 Steering Committee was to participate in this project because according to the proposal presented by our ministers: "the Unitarian and Universalist faith has a proud and distinguished history of standing for social justice. Live Oak can join this procession by publicly proclaiming our faith in the dignity of every human being. This ethical stand is clear, simple and non partisan."

Here is what the UUA has to say about torture:

We, the General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association, firmly reject the use of detention, incarceration, and interrogation techniques by agents of the government of the United States that can be construed in terms of law or common morality as torture and cruel or degrading punishment.
