Tai Chi at Live Oak

Beginning in September, Taoist Tai Chi classes will be offered in Live Oak’s Common Ground. Classes are taught by nationally-accredited volunteer instructors belonging to the Taoist Tai Chi Society, an international organization.

Taoist Tai Chi emphasizes dual cultivation of body and mind. Its slow, graceful movements are designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and circulation.

Fall semester classes will commence in September and run through December. Wednesday night sessions will run from 6:30-8:00 pm, beginning September 7. Saturday morning sessions will run from 9:00-10:30 am, beginning September 10. These are beginner classes consisting of instruction in the full 108-movement Taoist Tai Chi set. The Saturday and Wednesday sessions are each self-contained; attendance at both is encouraged for extra reinforcement.

Taoist Tai Chi Society membership dues are $40/month for adults, $25/month for seniors, and $30/month for full-time students. There is a one-time registration fee of $20. No special uniforms are required; loose-fitting, comfortable clothing is best. Students do not have to be members at Live Oak.
