Seeing and Appreciating

Live Oak has grown to a point where there are so many good things happening, and so many things just being taken care of by others, I think we don’t always see the “magic fairies” at work.

There’s an old joke about a homemaker and their spouse. The spouse comes home from work to find the kids fighting and crying, the house is a mess, no dinner, etc. Spouse races upstairs to find Homemaker in bed, reading a book. “What’s wrong??? Are you okay???” Spouse demands.

Homemaker replies, “You know how you always ask what I do all day? Today I didn’t do it.”

We’re seeing some of this right now, with the federal government shutdown. Ever wonder what officials at national parks do all day? Well, now we get to see what happens when they don’t!

I think there are better, and healthier, ways to discover all of the good work that church members do here. And we like to recognize that service.

So I’m asking for your help. Send an email either to me — minister@liveoakuu.org — or to the Executive Team — executiveteam@liveoakuu.org. Tell us about some little (or big) thing that happens at the church, and the person who does it. Doing just that would help us, but if you want to go a step further, tell me about your appreciation for it.

And thank you, to everyone who gives so much in service to Live Oak!
