Membership Team NewsThe Membership Team is an active and involved group of volunteers and you are welcome to join us. Contact Danielle Sullivan at emdsullivan@yahoo.comWant to get to know Live Oak people better? Consider joining a Chalice Circle.Have you ever wondered what the Membership Committee does? Or asked yourself how you can assist without being on the committee (and attending another meeting)? Here are the answers! The Membership Committee coordinates the Sunday greeters. Greeters do just that — greet everyone with a smile! They try to be especially welcoming of visitors, assist them with getting kids to RE, ask them to sign the visitor’s book, and invite them to attend an orientation session. Orientation sessions are held every other month and are organized by — yup — the Membership Committee! We serve a light lunch and provide childcare if needed. These meetings are sometimes called New Member Orientation, but that’s not really correct. They are intended for anyone who is new to Live Oak, member or not. We share our appreciation for our church home (and some information) so that people can decide if they want to make a formal commitment by signing our book. We plan the New Member Recognition Ceremonies and celebrate together at the really fun New Member Parties. All this is done by a core group of ONLY six to eight people! How can you help? Well, you can join the committee — we promise there is not a long interview. And you can invite visitors sitting near you for coffee or lunch after church. You can email me an offer to help with lunch or to provide childcare for an orientation. Or you can assemble packets for orientation or New Member Recognition ceremonies. You can volunteer to host a New Member party. If you like to talk on the phone, we need people to sign up to make four to six calls one week a month to call new visitors to thank them for visiting. You can any (or all) of these things without making a long-term commitment. I look forward to hearing from YOU!
