Membership Team

The Membership Team will meet on August 14, following the church service, in Room 103. New team members are needed! Everyone is welcome to attend.

New Member Recognition:

The New Members of Live Oak UU will be recognized on Sunday, August 28. This celebration is a tradition we have for existing members to welcome people who have signed the membership book in the last few months. If you are one of the newly signed and haven’t gone through the recognition ceremony yet, please plan to attend this service. Those who are considering becoming members of Live Oak but have yet to sign the book may want to do so soon, in order to be included in this celebration. Welcome New Members

Since the beginning of the year we have added many new names to the membership roll of Live Oak, including Lisa Kuntz, Doug and Karen Schaefer, Karen Jenkyn, and Matt and Theresa Pearson. We are so happy to have them as part of our community! If you haven’t already met them, please find their photos on the New Member board and introduce yourself. You’ll be glad you did!

Another change in membership can be found on the Membership Team itself. The talented and exuberant Courtney Havenwood has agreed to co-chair our team with a much welcome boost of energy. Many thanks to Courtney for her willingness to step up to a leadership/service role after only a few months as a member of our congregation herself.

Orientations Scheduled Monthly

Our next Live Oak Orientation, for those interested in learning more about our community, will be held on May 29 following the worship service. Questions are welcome! If you can’t attend this orientation, check the church calendar for the next one or find Tere or Courtney on Sunday morning to request an orientation packet. Please RSVP for the orientation lunch and/or childcare to Tere Kaulfus.

TEAM WORK: The Membership Team has gotten off to a great start in 2005 with an energetic organizational meeting and the addition of several new members. We welcome Courtney Havenwood, Hella Holoubek, Stephanie Walls, and Lyn Whitcomb to our team! Our continuing team members include Donna Durbin, Kathleen Ellis, Caroline and Roe Mackey, Jon Montgomery, Joyce Phelps, and Tere Kaulfus.

Some new Membership Team initiatives that you may notice around Live Oak in the near future include:

Ushers in the sanctuary to encourage service attendees to fill in the rows and help visitors find seating if necessary;

A Membership Table in the Fellowship Hall following Sunday services;

Orientations offered every month;

A mentoring program to help new members get integrated into church life.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Orientation: Sunday, February 20, 12:30 pm, Room 103 Anyone new to the Live Oak community who would like to know more about us and our approach to church life are most welcome to attend following our Sunday lunch. Please RSVP to Tere Kaulfus and indicate any childcare needs.

SoUUper Sunday: Sunday, February 20 All are invited for lunch following the worship service. If you’d like to share some of your culinary talents, please look for a sign-up sheet or email 1-2 weeks before the event. Monetary donations will be gratefully accepted at this lunch to help defray costs for the upcoming ordination of Barbara Coeyman.

Games Night: Friday, February 25, 6:30 pm We had a wonderful turnout in January with participants ranging from two years old to … a lot older than two! It was a great intergenerational experience. So, bring some food or drink to share and a favorite game or two and don’t miss out on the fun!
