Why Become a Member
at Live Oak?
Becoming a member of Live Oak UU Church indicates that you agree with our
vision and mission and are willing to support our community with your efforts,
energy, and finances, as you are able. It is a way to actively promote and
support the values that we share in common. Membership entitles you to
opportunities for participation in our community that are not available to
non-member friends. The Responsibilities and Benefits of Membership handout
available at the Visitor’s Table is a good resource for more information.
How Do You Become a Member?
Once you’ve decided Live Oak is a spiritual community that fits for you, fill
out a few forms and sign the membership book. We ask each adult to fill out a
New Member Profile and each family to fill out a pledge card indicating how much
financial support they will commit to Live Oak over the fiscal year. Pledges
from our members are important, as they enable us to project how much income we
will receive so that we may responsibly plan our programming for the year. If
you have children attending our Religious Education (RE) program, an RE
registration form should be completed for each child. Additionally, we ask each
adult to participate in the Strengthening Our Roots program of helping out in a
limited yet very important task on four Sunday mornings each year or at
churchwide work days.
Anything Else I Should Know?
Many details about Live Oak are covered in our bi-monthly orientation
sessions. If you are unable to attend one of these, feel free to contact our
Membership Team leader, Danielle Sullivan, with any questions you may have or to
obtain any printed materials. You can contact Danielle at
