News from the Financial Realm
November 2003: Pledges Fall Short of Last Year
Our annual canvass has left us short of the funds needed for our projected
2004 budget. Last year our members and friends committed $105,000 to Live Oak,
and this year the number looks to be about $97,000. Because of the greater costs
associated with our new building, it is no surprise that our costs are going up
next year and we will need more income to make ends meet. Additionally, the
proposal to keep Chuck at half time and add a second minister starting at
quarter time that passed at the November Steering Committee was contingent upon
adequate funds from the canvass.
In early December, we will be sending a direct mailing to members and friends
of Live Oak in hopes of better communicating our specific goals and budgetary
needs for 2004. We hope you will thoughtfully consider this information as you
decide if you would be willing and able to increase your pledge and help us to
meet these goals.

PAY YOUR PLEDGE VIA CREDIT CARD
We have now come up with a new way to pay pledges by
credit card. Read all about it.
NEW!! ALBERTSON'S FUNDRAISER
Attention shoppers: Albertson's has included Live Oak in its "Community
Partners" program, which gives money back to charitable organizations in
the community. Here's how it works - when you go through the checkout, you hand
the cashier your Albertson's card, which he or she will scan and return to you.
Then, depending on how much all of us spend at Albertson's in a quarter, between
2 and 5 percent will be returned to Live Oak. The Finance Committee has agreed
to dedicate all money from the Albertson's program to the Growth Fund campaign
for the new church. Whether you shop daily or once a month at Albertson's, you
can help out! Contact Sarah Swords for a card (257-1739 or sswords@austin.rr.com).
Thanks for your support!
ATTENTION ON-LINE SHOPPERS
Now you can shop on-line and benefit Live Oak! A new service, called
OneWorldFunding.com, will return up to 25% of the price of your purchase to Live
Oak. It's easy - go to http://www.oneworldfunding.com/,
do your shopping from one of the many merchants they feature (UU specific
products, products from Amazon.com, Sharper Image, J. Crew, Garden Botanika,
etc.), then simply forward a copy of your invoice to oneworldfunding@att.net
. Give them our church's registration number, which is 825. They will forward a
donation to Live Oak! I would appreciate any feedback you have on this, since it
is a new service. Thanks! Sarah Swords (257-1739) or sswords@austin.rr.com
SHOP AT RANDALL'S - GIVE LIVE OAK $$
We want to remind everyone that if you shop at Randall's, you can make your
grocery bill benefit Live Oak. Take your "Remarkable Card" to the
customer service desk (you only have to do this once), and tell them you want
Randall's to donate to your church. Live Oak's donation number is 4333. Each
month, Randall's donates 1% of your grocery purchases to the charity of your
choice. Why not make it Live Oak? Thanks!
