EVENING WOMEN’S GROUP News

Please note that the next scheduled meeting for each month is listed on the church calendar page. This page is just for news items that are in addition to the notices of regular meetings. Please note that the original evening women's group is currently CLOSED, due to the size, but the "Circle of Friends" group is open.

March 2004

The Evening Women’s Spirituality Group meets the first Thursday of the month and is scheduled for March 4, in Room 103 at Live Oak. There is an ingathering (lots of informal chatting) at 7:00 pm, with the circle opening to begin promptly at 7:30 pm and ending at 9:00 pm. The group follows a structured format and explores spiritual questions with a focus on listening to one another in a safe and loving environment. Each member is committed to coming to group on a monthly basis and participates in shared leadership. Unfortunately, this group has reached its capacity and we are unable to accept additional members at this time.

Circle of Friends Women’s Group: Our new Circle of Friends Women’s Group meets on the second Thursday of the month. Our next meeting is March 11. We gather at Live Oak in Room 103, with an ingathering at 7:15 and group starting at 7:30 pm and ending at 9:00 pm. All women over the age of 18 are welcome to this open and confidential setting. We strive to make it a safe place to share life stories, to support and nurture one another, to connect more fully with ourselves, and to have some fun! It’s a good place to start if you are new to the church, can’t come every month, or have never been in a women’s group before. Circle of Friends

We have started a second evening women's group! All women over the age of 18 are welcome to this open and confidential setting. We strive to make it a safe place to share life stories, to support and nurture one another, to connect more fully with ourselves, and to have some fun! It’s a good place to start if you are new to the church, can’t come every month, or have never been in a women’s group before. This group will always meet on the second Thursday of the month. The Evening Women’s Group will begin its new year with a welcoming pot luck for all new and returning members on Thursday, August 21, in Room 103, at 6:30 pm. We will share fellowship over the meal and begin our opening ritual at 7:30 pm with closing at 9:00 pm. All are welcome to this open, confidential and loving group of women, age 18 and over. We strive to make it a safe place to share life stories, to support and challenge one another and to connect more fully with ourselves. May 2003

The Live Oak Evening Women's Group will be meeting ONE TIME ONLY in the month of May. This wonderful support group will meet on Thursday, May 22 in the Live Oak sanctuary. The ingathering is at 7:00 PM and group runs from 7:15 to 8:30 PM. This is a confidential group, open to all women members and friends of the Live Oak Community, over the age of 18.

November 2002

The Live Oak Evening Women’s Group will be celebrating the Autumn Harvest with a Thanksgiving potluck on Thursday, November 14, with^. ingathering at 7PM and dinner to start at 7:15 PM. We will meet in the Live Oak Sanctuary. Please bring a blessing to share before eating the meal. There is much we have to be thankful for.

June 2002

The Live Oak Evening Women's group will continue to meet during the summer beginning on June 13 and 27th. Ingathering begins at 7:00 p.m. and group runs from 7:15 to 8:30. Our format over the summer may include some field trips. A labyrinth walk on June 27 at a near-by church is planned with a regrouping back at Live Oak for discussion. Please contact Joyce Phelps at 733-0561 or joycephelps@austin.rr.com for orientation if you are first time group member. New members are always welcome.

The book-focused Evening Women's Group will not meet during the summer. However, Carolyn Dower has graciously offered to host one last meeting on Thursday, June 6 at her home to discuss the last two chapters of The Dark Side of the Light Chasers and give us a sense of closure. Please RSVP to Carolyn at 331-1106. Esther Ford will provide the DARK chocolate. (Anyone volunteer to bring the LITE beer?)

NEWS!! It's finally time for a potluck supper with a fifth week in May!! Save the date of Thursday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. and join both groups of women for a night of wonderful food and fellowship! New members are always welcome!

The Live Oak Evening Women’s Group has expanded its meeting times and format! Both groups are confidential and open to all members and friends of the Live Oak community. Women are welcome to attend all of the sessions if they choose.

One group will continue to meet on the 2^nd and 4^th Thursday of each month (March 14 and 28, this month). Ingathering is at 7:00pm and group will run from 7:15 to 8:30pm. The focus will be sharing our lives with all of its challenges and joys, with leadership responsibilities to be shared among group members. Joyce Phelps will facilitate these sessions. In addition, a new group will also meet on the 1^st and 3^rd Thursday of each month at 7:00pm (March 7 and 21, this month). The focus will be more structured, and will center on a book or curriculum. The next few months the book will be "The Dark Side of the Light Chasers" by Debbie Ford. Esther Ford (no relation) will facilitate these sessions. Call Esther at 255-2082, if you have questions.

The group will also meet as a whole for a potluck supper on months when there is a fifth Thursday. New members are always welcome.

February 2002

Due to popular demand, the LOUU Evening Women's Group will be expanding their meeting times starting in February. The decision was not made in time to be included in the newsletter and calendar for the month, but here are the details:

The group will continue to meet the second and fourth Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. The focus will be sharing, with shared leadership responsibilities to prepare a topic each time. Joyce Phelps will facilitate these sessions. Call Joyce if you have questions about these sessions (733-0561). The next session will be February 14.

In addition, the group will meet on the first and third Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. The focus will be more structured and centered on a book or curriculum. The next few months the book will be "The Dark Side of the Light Chasers" by Debbie Ford. Esther Ford (no relation) will facilitate these sessions. Call Esther if you have questions (255-2082). The first session will be February 7.

December 2001

The Live Oak Evening Women’s Group will meet at the following times in December:

-Thursday, December 13 at 7:00PM. This is a potluck dinner where both groups come together for sharing and planning the format for the next 8 weeks of group activities.

-Thursday, December 27. Ingathering is at 7PM, with groups beginning at 7:15PM and ending at 8:30PM.

November 2001

If you are interested in developing relationships beyond the Sunday morning hello, this group may be for you. There are two groups that meet simultaneously on the 2^nd and 4^th Thursday of each month. (In November we’ll meet the 2^nd and 5^th Thursday because of Thanksgiving.) Ingathering is at 7:00PM, though participants can meet earlier if desired (the person with the key may not arrive at the church until 7:00, however). Groups will start at 7:15 and end at 8:30.

One group has decided they want to use a spiritual book as a springboard for interaction. Tere Kaulfus is facilitating this group, and the first book they have chosen is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. The other group, facilitated by Joyce Phelps, will have a focus of sharing individual histories and life happenings.

We will meet in these formats until Dec 2001. At this time both groups will meet together for a pot luck and decision making regarding the focus and make up of the groups for the next 8 weeks.
