15 classrooms in the religious education area,
a wonderful library and much more--visit our new church photo
page to see what we are so excited about!
November
14, 15, and 16
Enjoy these brief reports on events and some photos, too!
Friday Night November 14 - 7:00 PM Coffee House
$10 donation
Featuring: David LaMotte (Asheville, NC) and Jenny Reynolds (Boston, MA)
Alcohol and smoke free environment to enjoy great music! The evening also
featured Jeffrye Tveraas on guitar with Jenny and during the songs in the round.
Attendance was great and the music sublime--thanks to all who came.
Saturday Night November 15 - Evening of Food and Dance
5:00 PM - BBQ and Vegetarian outdoor meal FREE -- well, it rained so it was
indoors, and we had meat burgers, too. But everyone enjoyed the wonderfully
cooked food and the fun company!
6:30 – 9:00 PM - Contra Barn Dance FREE
Featuring the incredible Chris Kelly, Contra Dance caller and the trad.arr.us
band as they helped young and old to have fun with music and dancing. No dancing
experience required.
At various times during the evening the wonderful Clogging Group that Jon Durbin
dances with entertained us, too. We are hoping for some photos of this
incredibly fun family dance event. The cloggers were amazing, and the contra
dancing was real fun for all who participated--even non dancers had great
success. Whole families danced together and everyone got some good exercise in!
Sunday November 16 - “A Day of Dedication”
10:30 AM - Reverend Chuck Freeman will be delivering a service on “Rush is
Right” -- he fooled us; it wasn't Rush Limbaugh after all. That darned Chuck
(look how nicely he dressed for the occasion, though--we are still the tie dye
church!). You'll just have to borrow the CD to learn who Rush was!
12:00 PM - Soup, Bread and Baked Potato Lunch FREE -- it was chili and it was
delicious!
1:00 – 3:00 PM - Musical presentations by Austin local UU Musicians. FREE
 | The Rebels: Brenna Pritchard, fiddle, rhythm guitar, Danielle Pike, fiddle
and mandolin,
and Marty Mueller, lead guitar. Illness felled the Rebels. We hope that the
illness
passed quickly. |
 | Isaacs-Bryant: Tight vocal harmonies from a musical family. Same here--
there was a bad flu going around among the young people of greater
Austin
this week. We are sorry to have missed them. |
 | Trey Bone: Bill Dower, Austin Kessler and the lovely and talented Sue Ann
Kendall with covers and original music. These guys did manage to show up. |
 | Blues Brudders: Covering some classic blues numbers, sure to have you
singing
the blues right along with them. Click on the photos below to
see Bill Dower,
Eddie Collins, Jeffrye Tveraas and Chuck Freeman in their
blues personae. |

The band first appeared as a finely tuned threesome. |

The brudders rock out as "Soul Brudder"
sings |

We think Brudder Eddie was "acting" |

Jeff really coveted Bill's genuine 70s-era bass. |
| |

Bill says, "Look, Ma, all those years of bass
lessons finally paid off!" |

Jeff, AKA Big Brudder, says, "Look, Ma, all
those years of drum lessons really DID pay off!" |
|

Ya can't miss Soul Brudder in a crowd--no wonder they all wore
sunglasses. |

And he has rhythm, too. |

Eric Clapton was shaking in his boots when Bill put
down his bass and began his acoustic number. |

Any guy with a tiger-striped guitar case is THE
epitome of cool. |
3:00 PM - Dedication Toast, Time Capsule filling and Reception followed by a
cake, coffee and cookies reception FREE
Rev. Bob Hill, District Executive will be participating in the Sunday
festivities.

Our poet laureate, Joe Conklin, created a special dedication poem |

Charter members Bill Sauber, John Iacoletti, Austin Kessler, Martha
Iacoletti, Tina Cordes and Roger Sessions were honored. |

Davidson Loehr, minister of First UU, joined us for toasting. |

Some serious toasting! |

Many delighted members and guests from the community
were there to celebrate. |

Community members, such as the Asian American
Cultural Center's Amy Wong Mok, saluted us. |

Holding her sparkling cider, Amy thanked Chuck for
all his connections with her organization. |

Rabbi Monte Eliasov, whose congregation meets in our
facility also came to celebrate. |
