What Is the CUUPS Group???

We've been asked to tell you a little about the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans group that is associated with Live Oak UU Church. We are technically called the LOOP (Live Oak Organization of Pagans) CUUPS. Our group is a registered member (usually--we don't get billed and lapse in membership occasionally) of the national CUUPS organization, which is associated with the UUA. We have a charter and all that sort of thing, but really what we are is an open and friendly group of people who identify themselves as some sort of pagan (in the broadest sense) and enjoy getting together for socializing and various rituals. We meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in room 108 (call to verify--sometimes we may go to a private home). At the first meeting each month, we usually socialize and plan the ritual of the month, and at the second meeting, we hold a ritual, often focusing on a traditional celebration that occurs near that time of the year.

Anyone is welcome to join us. Many of our members are Live Oak church members, but others are not--you do not have to be a UU to participate. You also do not have to be a Wiccan, a Shaman, or any other particular type of practitioner--we have genuine agnostics and even the occasional atheist showing up. An open mind and a tolerance for rituals that are not strictly about any particular path are all you need to bring. We are hoping to have childcare for meetings, soon, so if you aren't joining us for that reason, take note!

In December, CUUPS will have a fundraiser on December 14 in the RE rooms.  The group will only have one meeting on December 17, which will be a Yule ritual.

Please join us! And if you have questions, feel free to contact our fearless leader, Diane at dianes@texas.net
