Why Become a Member at Live Oak?
Becoming a member of Live Oak UU Church indicates that you agree with our vision and mission and are willing to support our community with your efforts, energy, and finances, as you are able. It is a way to actively promote and support the values that we share in common. Membership entitles you to opportunities for participation in our community that are not available to non-member friends.
How Do You Become a Member?
Once you’ve decided Live Oak is a spiritual community that fits for you, fill out a few forms and sign the membership book. We ask each adult to fill out a New Member Profile and each family to fill out a pledge card indicating how much financial support they will commit to Live Oak over the fiscal year. Pledges from our members are important, as they enable us to project how much income we will receive. Our pledge drive is in the Fall so that we may responsibly plan our programming for the next fiscal year, Jan-Dec. If you have children attending our Religious Education (RE) program, an RE registration form should be completed for each child. Additionally, we ask each member to help out occasionally, such as hospitality, gardening, or helping out with a class.
Anything Else I Should Know?
Many details about Live Oak are covered in our Orientation Tours, in which we show you where things can be found and answer your questions. Several times a year we have a Pathways to Membership gathering on a Saturday. It's a fun, interactive way to meet newcomers and established members. If you are unable to attend, feel free to contact our Membership Team leader at membership@liveoakuu.org with any questions you may have or to obtain any printed materials.
