Jealousy Motel
are John Defoore (guitar/vocals), Dirje Smith (cello/vocals) and Randy Brown
(guitar/mandolin/vocals), three "talented songwriters with an uncanny
command of many genres of music from folk to jazz to blues to swing and
beyond along with a self-effacing humor that is all too absent from the stage
these days. An odd name, but one that comes closest to describing the sound and
feel of this truly unique acoustic group."
The Greencards formed in
Austin, Texas in May 2002 when Australians Kym Warner and Carol Young teamed up
with Eamon McLoughlin from England. Brought
together through their love of Bluegrass and traditional American music, they
can be seen performing live in and around the Austin Area.

November
8
Tom Kimmel (Nashville);
John Walker (Dallas) opens
There are very few songwriters these days who can move from pop ballad
to R&B groove to folk narrative, from country shuffle to rock rave-up to
gospel soul without stumbling. Tom Kimmel can. And very few writers
whose songs are routinely covered by major recording stars can hold their own
recording and performing those songs. Tom Kimmel can, and does, and more.

October
11
Darryl Purpose (left) with Beth
Galiger (Austin);
Doug Clark
Steiger (right, Austin) opens
Once a professional gambler, today, Purpose is an
entertainer known more for winning songwriting competitions, for his fluid
guitar playing and for his Sweet Baby James voice than for winning blackjack
pots.
Doug Clark Steiger is unique and difficult to
categorize. Doug's songs are very musical and emotional. On top of that, his
finger-style guitar work makes his compositions come alive. His words are often
integrated into the music, rather than a poem or story with a music background.
Most of his songs defy any traditional formula. If you buy a guitar from this
man, it will make the webmaster happy.

Kat
Eggleston and Kate MacLeod

7:30 pm, Friday, September 20, 2002
$10.00 at the door
Kat Eggleston (who resides in the
Chicago area) is one of the most accomplished singers / songwriters today. She
is also a virtuoso guitarist and hammer dulcimer player. Elating audiences with
her beautiful blend of sweet melodies and gentle honesty, Kat's music is
universally appreciated by young and old, alike.
Kate MacLeod (who has lived in Utah
since 1979) considers the fiddle her main instrument, though her songwriting has
been, more recently, the catalyst for her career. She is an unpretentious
songwriter whose lyric style is subtle, spare, and sometimes chilling. She
delivers her music with strong vocals and guitar playing, and exquisite fiddle
playing.

Rounder recording artist Tanya Savory with Kim House on piano. Touring in
support of her third release "Where We Live." Country Music Magazine
says: "At a time when female singer-songwriters often try to differentiate
themselves by becoming rawer and ruder, Tanya Savory establishes her
individuality with sharply detailed songs, tasteful acoustic production and a
gentle, humane way of looking at the world around her..."
