MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS

These statements can also be found on our website (www.liveoakuu.org/mission.html). Many thanks to John Iacolletti, Sue Ann Kendall, Micki Marquardt, and Bill Sauber for crafting the statements using the voluminous notes from the long-range planning workshops. Thanks to all members and friends who attended the workshops and contributed their ideas. And thanks to the Steering Committee for approving the statements with only one change!! The statements will be part of a long-range plan package that will be presented to the congregation for approval sometime early in 2001.

October 2000: A Letter from the Zen Practice Group

Dear friends at Live Oak:

The Zen practice group that has been meeting at Live Oak is moving to a new location: Clear Spring Studio, at 3918-C Far West Boulevard (behind Papa John's Pizza). We can see that you are straining at the seams, and we are delighted about Live Oak's wonderful growth. As you move to two services, it is obvious that you will need more space. We have been offered an opportunity to use the space at Clear Spring Studio that has been designed as a Zen sitting space, and is not used on Sunday mornings.

We are deeply appreciative of Live Oak's generosity and support in providing space for our group for six years, and we would like to welcome anyone who is interested in meditation practice to join us at the new space. Our group meets from 8:15 until about 10:15, which allows plenty of time to get to Live Oak for the second service. We would also like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the youth group, the children, and the church members who have been so respectful of our group, helping to keep a calm and peaceful atmosphere during our practice periods. (The wonderful aromas of the new member breakfasts were a great test of our sitting practice!) If you have questions about the group, or about the new location, please contact Peg Syverson at syverson@uts.cc.texas.edu

Once again, our deepest appreciation for your support. - Peg Syverson

Clean Up, Clean Up!

If you use the church, please clean up after yourself! Many different groups and people use the facilities before the church is professionally cleaned. Bugs like crumbs, people don't!
