December 2003

The book group will not meet in December. The program will resume in January.

November 2003

The next meeting of the Live Oak Book Group is scheduled for November 11 at 7:15 pm. We will be reading Midwives by Chris Bohjalian. We will meet in the home of Tara DeCardenas. Please join us. If you have any questions please contact Hella Holoubek at 918-3276.

October 2003

The next monthly meeting of the book club is on October 21 at 7:15 pm. Please note the changed date! We will discuss An American Requiem by James Carroll. As usual we will meet at the house of Tara de Cardenas. Call Tara for directions at 238-8179. All are welcome!

For those of you who like to plan ahead, the selection for the October 14 meeting is An American Requiem by James Carroll.

August 2003

June 2003

The June meeting of the Live Oak Book Group is at 7:15, June 10, at the home of Hella Holoubek. Call Hella at 918-3276 for directions. Our text is Bee Season by Myla Goldberg. Not merely a coming-of-age story, this novel delicately examines the unraveling fabric of one family. It is an easy read. All are welcome.

May 2003

Our next meeting will be May 13 at 7:15 pm at the house of Tara de Cardenas,in Round Rock. Call Tara for address and directions: 238-8179. The text of the month is The Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis. Ellis is a historian who tells a good tale, and the topic is nation building, anno 1790. All are welcome.

February 2003

The Live Oak Book group will meet February 11,, 2003 at 7:15. We will be discussing Pope Joan by Donna W. Cross. Pope Joan is a fictional pope of the ninth century. We are hoping for a good turn-out; everyone welcome. 

Looking ahead to March, on 3/11 we will talk about Blessings, by Anna Quindlen. We are always open to good selections bring us your favorites. We will meet at the house of Tara de Cardenas, 8725 Sea Ash Circle in Round Rock, 78681. Call Tara at 238-8179 for directions.

January 2003

The Live Oak Book group will meet Tues., Jan 14, 2003 at 7:15. We will be discussing A FINE BALANCE by Rohinton Mistry. This novel about India has received much much praise and should be well worth our time. And we have 2 weeks after the new year to get through it. Also, we will be planning books for the next few months, so bring your suggestions.
