Here is what we were reading in 2001.December 2001The Live Oak UU
book group will meet on Tuesday, December 11 at 7:15p.m. at the house of
Chris Lufkin, 10807 Keystone Bend. We will discuss Alvah Simon’s North
to the Night. For those of you who like to plan farther ahead, our
subsequent discussion will be about Middlemarch by George Eliot, on

directions to December’s meeting or Tere @ 336-5544 for general info. November 2001The Live Oak UU book group will meet on Nov. 19 at 7:15p.m. at the house of Joyce Phelps, 2630 Henley Drive. We will discuss Wallace Stegner's Angle of Repose. Additionally, we will be choosing our book selections for the next few months, so come give your input. All are welcome! We will talk about Alice Hoffman's Here on Earth, a modern Gothic novel. Call 918-3276 for more info. Looking ahead to November, our selection is Wallace Stegner's Angle of Repose. This is a real treat. We hope for a great turn-out. September 2001We would be happy to have you join us in our discussion of Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Hours by Michael Cunningham. Anyone is invited to come join in our discussion and fellowship. We will meet at the home of Tere Kaulfus located at 10602 Cranford Ct. To get there from the church, take 620 west past Anderson Mill. Turn left at the light at Boulder Ln. Go 1/2 mile and turn left on Crossland. Make an immediate right onto Andenwood and then the second left onto Cranford Ct. Our house is straight back to the left of the street lamp. Any questions? As usual, we meet at 7:15 p.m. June 2001We would like to invite everyone to join us for book discussions for the summer months. The dates will vary to accommodate those present at the last meeting: On June 4 we will talk about John Steinbeck's East of Eden. We will meet at 7:15 at the house of Tara de Cardenas. Call 238-8179 for directions. The July 9 meeting will be at Joyce Phelps' house to discuss The Power of One, by Bryce Courtenay. Phone her at 733-0561 for directions. On August 6 our topic will be The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. We will meet at 7:15 at the yet to be moved-in house of Tere Kaulfus. She will provide us with directions. At the August meeting we will also plan the fall season. All these books should stimulate good discussions without being overly complicated reading. April 2001Our April meeting of the Live Oak book group will be Monday, April 9 at 7:15. We will again meet at Tara's house, 8725 Sea Ash Circle in Round Rock. Look for directions given in March, or call 238-8179. Our selection is Alan Isler, The Prince of West End Avenue. This little book, available at the Austin library, is interesting on several levels and should stimulate a great discussion. We will meet at the House of Tara de Cardenas, 8725 Sea Ash Cr. in Round Rock. Our selection is "The Weight of Water" by Anita Shreve. This is quite an intriguing story, an easy page-turner. All are welcome.
