December 2000

November 2000

The Live Oak Book group will meet on November 20, in the home of Hella Holoubeck, to discuss The Alienist, by Caleb Carr. Carr's book is an historical mystery set in late Victorian times. It features Teddy Roosevelt as New York police commissioner; a role he played in real life. October 2000

This year, we decided to change our monthly meeting date from Thursday nights to the third Monday of the month. We liked meeting in one another's homes last year so we'll be continuing that. Meetings will begin at 7:15 PM with socializing then we'll plan on beginning the book discussion promptly at 7:30 PM.

August 2000

The Book Group will meet Thursday, August 24 at 7PM at the church sanctuary. We plan to again meet in one another's homes in the future. At the August meeting, we plan to visit a while (!) then select the books we'll be reading Aug-Dec. Anyone newcomer is welcome to join the group at any time--we love having new friends! We'll be using our annual Dec meeting/party to select the spring books. So think of things you like to read that are available either at the library or in paperback and come join us--Wendy Clark

March 2000

The book club will meet on March 23, 7:30 pm at the house of Hella Holoubek, 10421 Mourning Dove Dr. We will be discussing Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose. This is a mystery story with lots of discussion of religion, quite suitable for UUs. Mourning Dove DR. is just off Anderson Mill Rd. between 183 and 620. Call Hella for directions.
